Dogs and cats are carnivores. Their teeth are sharp and act like scissors to rip and tear meat, their stomach acids are every strong in order to digest raw meat, and their digestive tracts are small in order to provent them from getting diseases some raw meats contain. So, why do people swear up and down that raw is 'bad' and some processed, grain filled, pellet is 'good'?

I really don't know truthfully!

I dun have the money to feed my dog the natural diet and I know my Dad won't buy meat for the dog.D:

I really hate giving Ty the kibble. It smells gross, so it probably tastes gross too. :C

There's a difference between good quality kibble, and commercially sold kibble...though if I could afford to feed raw, I probably would. Since I can't, I feed the next best in my opinion: Orijen kibble, made with fresh, human grade meat and natural preservatives, appropriate amount of fruits, veggies and botanicals, and no grain or meat by-product. All my cat's skin problems from allergies (she'd itch and chew herself raw) went away after a week on Orijen.

Cute stamp :)

Orijen is a good one! I've heard some really good things about it..I'm not against ALL kibble, but some are pretty bad. I'm aware that not everyone can afford or have the time for a raw diet..so high-quality kibble is the next best thing.

Thanks! =D

Good to know! Most of the people I've spoken to who feed raw are religiously raw, and have something bad to say about all kibble brands =P

I know what you mean! I'm actually at the moment not feeding raw for the same reason as you, but will be feeding it soon. I just like the diet a lot, hence the stamp =P I was actually planning on giving my dog some EVO Red Meat a few times a week so that way when I'm away and can't feed her raw, she can eat something her stomach will be use to. Also, I'll probably use it as a backup incase I happen to run into any finance issues.

Actually dogs are omnivores. Cats are obligate carnivores, though.

But yeah, I agree that kibble is mostly crap. That's why we feed our dog what the vet recommended. Our dog got fat on commercial kibble, so our vet gave us this all-natural fancy kibble that's actually pretty cheap. Now our dog's back to a healthy 25 lbs (as opposed to the 40 she was before, she was a fat little sausage-spaniel)
